Imaging Model I floppies...

Having just built and tested a Sergey's 8-bit FDC and Serial port card, I can now read and write Model I floppies on my 5150 XT.

I successfully wrote an image of a Multidos 1.6D boot floppy and it booted, but it didn't work quite right for some reason. A 5150 is too slow to run the DOS-Based emulators, so when I get the 486 DX 33mhz system I'm building done, I'll try again using an emulator directly to the drive.

Looks like I'll soon be able to start imaging all my Model I floppies for archival purposes.

I hope you haven't waited to long to get that done. I lost all my Model 1 software because the Oxide would flake off and stick on the
heads of the drive. That took a lot of time to clean and verify the drive still was functional, and then repeat the process
on another floppy or two. I finally just gave up, as I wasn't getting any information from the floppy's. That was 10 years ago.

You also might want to check out the KryoFlux or the Supercard Pro, as they work fine, and you can use any computer with a USB
Port to do make the preservation copies. I know they are rather expensive, but they both work great.

Can't afford a Kryoflux or a Supercard Pro. This will work just fine for my purposes.
