The left K10 is the original mb, on the right is one using the "universal" mb - like 4/84 or later. I had a 2X with un-populated modem/RTC/hdd, then had to replace the mb and Kaypro gave me a "universal" (fully populated) mb. Not sure if the back panel cut-outs for the original K10 would have allowed a simple swap of mb, or if the second K10 is fully a newer one.

There is some add-on board to the original K10, was that an 8086 co-processor? Can't tell if it is a Kaypro add-on or some third-party.

The technical manual Larry mentions is the best source that know of. It should have what you need to identify the vintage of the machines.

I heard one publication call out a model Kaypro 12X.

It referenced to a fully populated universal 84 MB with Modem, RTC, Clock, HD interface in a Kaypro 10.

the KP-10 with the extra card is a HandyMan card.. and that board has pc-01-180c the other is full sockets and 81-469

ok so i have a 10/83 and a 10/84 (universal).. also i noticed the 10/83 that the handyman was in didnt have a rom and was the old 24pin socket and not 28pin.. so the handyman has 2 x 64k srams on it and a 28pin rom and the z80 with pass through to mainboard.. that makes alot of sents now..

going to dump the rom's and disks i have for it as all i can find are add's and pics of the card..
