So the Powershot D20 came in the mail yesterday. It was easy, and I got started taking decent pics:
Some greenish hues around the edges of objects can be seen, as well as some general fuzziness. For some reason I think it goes well with the cartoonish looks of my In Win Griffin case...
When it comes to videos, the HD quality with SILENT zooming in/out looks amazing to me - but there is a clicking sound in the audio of any footage made. I removed both dangling wrist straps, (one twists in) but the clicking/thumping sound persists. Maybe my camera took a few drop falls and that caused it. It does have a little bit of dings and scrapes from use. It is a rugged camera - to a point.
The camera's built-in mic is not very audible or clear, especially due to it being front facing. Seems to be more of a "social" camera... Well, it's a stylish looking placeholder while I continue my search for what is my go-to camera.
Maybe the older Powershot D10 is not prone to the clicking issue. (I can reuse my batteries in it) Finding used cameras helps me save money in this endeavor.
I've seen portable camera mount/holders that have a top handle that also allow you to fit a mic on top, what are they called? This could possibly help avoid picking up camera noise if present in my future cameras. The Powershot D20 lacks a mic port, and the Powershot D10 probably too. It looks unlikely that the issue can be fixed.
I found a good description of my issue in this post about the Powershot SX50:
When I record video, a clicking/whirring noise made by the camera is recorded on the video. I'm thinking it's the autofocus, or zoom (although it seems to make the noise even if I am not using the zoom.) Any ideas on what is causing this or how to get rid of it? Thanks!
