I'm playing around with win 95 on my IBM 9595 486/66. It seems to work fine for most things so far. That said, hard drive access is ABYSMALLY slow. I borrowed the spock scsi card from an 8595 and while everything WORKS, I would REALLY like something a bit quicker. Heck, I have a 15,000rpm u320 scsi drive and it works just fine, but is no faster than any other drive.

So, just like the title asks, is there a better option for scsi on MCA? I've done some research on my own and the there is some sort of fast/wide controller capable of 20mb/s. Is that this card: http://www.ebay.com/itm/390998474258 ?

That card comes in both RS/6000 and PS/2 flavors. http://www.walshcomptech.com/ohlandl/IBM_SCSI/SCSI-DFW.html has some details and which models might work.

Several other Fast Wide SCSI cards existed and don't forget to look for RAID cards (which were often even better) and there may have been a SCSI-3 card for MCA. I remember reading about one but every online reference I can find stops with fast wide SCSI.

Check the jumpers for the U320 drive.

ok so i'm looking at the following :

card: http://www.ebay.com/itm/351351829654
cable: http://www.ebay.com/itm/371210720637

then Kludge some sort of F-F adapter to put a "normal" cable on the end of that one. :p

BLEH.

The SCSI card is the "Corvette".

The cable looks like the proper cable to connect with that card, but I'm not 100% sure. The picture isn't defined enough to tell.

Take a look at this one. The smaller end is the one that connects to the card.

BTW, a SCSI-1 cable fits the 50 pin card edge connector on the top of the SCSI adapter. However, I haven't tried it with a 50 pin drive yet.
