My Computer is Safe - How is yours?

Too bad the guy who wrote this turned out to be such a nutter later in life. Probably mostly drug-induced. Fleeing a murder investigation he once buried himself in sand and covered his head with a cardboard box to hide out. He later committed suicide in a Spanish prison cell.

But I remember running this back in the day & feeling emboldened to download & run anything I wanted from Warez BBS's. :) In fact I'm almost certain I downloaded McAfee Antivirus from a Warez BBS. Probably not a great idea looking back.
 
McAfee was one of the products where the antivirus hampered use of the computer more than any virus that might be encountered.
 
one of the early anti-virus utilities i have in my floppy disks back in the day. also one of the reasons i've written my own anti-virus. since some of the boot and file viruses that are making rounds in our school weren't detected by McAfee. worst, it even got self-choked when running after SCAN itself got infected
 
just got an email a few days ago about my McAfee subscription needing to be renewed ...... have to pay that with some of my Nigerian Prince hidden fortune money ....

Might also have been mental illness involved, especially when you take the details of his childhood into account. Having an abusive alcoholic for a parent isn't good for anyone.

I would guess that the recreational drug use probably didn't help whatever personal issues he might have had.
