No-ROM Paperclip?

Does anyone know if there is a version of the word processor Paperclip for the PET available that does not require a copy protection ROM chip?

I'd like to use my 8032 for some writing.

Zimmer's only seems to have copy protected versions.

It probably uses ROM routines as part of the program to save RAM for your documents, so it isn't all copy protection exactly.

The 1986 manual over at Internet Archive has a stamped notice that "This program no longer requires a key for the joystick port." Not that any of my searches has hit upon an executable after the copy protection was removed.

This must be for the C64 version or some other version, because of course the PET does not have a joystick port.

From what I understand, the PaperClip ROM for the PET was merely a copy protection dongle. The program wouldn't start without it installed.

Yes but that requires one to burn the .bin image to an eprom which I don't have the ability or or equipment to to do.

Put a request out for someone to be nice enough to burn one and send it to you (for a sensible price)?

I found a 4K rom in my archives that was paperclip.bin … sure I downloaded from zimmers.net. Looked at it and it contains actual code for the word processor including error messages etc. …. Will peak again at the rom code on Zimmers but think it needed no matter what
