IBM PC DOS 7.0 was shipped with IBM Antivirus.
Later on, IBM ceased to support their Antivirus, instead licensed Norton AntiVirus, making it available for download for PC DOS users.
And it's still downloadable - ftp://ftp.symantec.com/comwrap/navibmdw.exe
...along with the tool to uninstall IBM Antivirus - ftp://ftp.symantec.com/comwrap/unibmzip.exe

It's a good antivirus for vintage PCs (286+), I only encountered problems with its memory-resident components, but they are easily disabled, and the scanner itself works very well.

However, virus definition updates for this product are no longer available from Symantec.

I have an update from September 07, 2001 (0907i16.exe).

I'm looking for later updates.
They were available via download, or on CD-ROM media - perhaps somebody still has such CDs?

I don't really see the point of this... my DOS PC doesn't even have a NIC in it right now and not connected to any sort of network. No one's going to break into my house and put viruses on it. lol And even if someone did... I'd just nuke the drive and reinstall DOS... it's just used for games.

I have a Norton SystemWorks 2003 and Norton AntiVirus 2003 CD set with definitions from August 13, 2002, August 18, 2002, and August 28, 2002.

If using MS-DOS 6.22 it already has antivirus software, to access type at C:\> vsafe for real time scanning, or msav for virus scan... but I think it would be really difficult to get a DOS virus nowadays.

If there's the 16-bit version (probably named ****i16.exe), I'm interested in the latest update.
Can you upload it somewhere?

Heheheh... as you can see they're not in a format like that as all!

Indeed.
The 16-bit update looks like this:

Your files look like 32-bit version, I've got something similar:

Code:
$ file DEFINST.EXE
DEFINST.EXE: PE32 executable for MS Windows (GUI) Intel 80386 32-bit

bumping this thread because I am also looking for a 3x antivirus program to help when checking old hdds/floppies - obviously something with definitions around the year 2000 is more than enough... is there any chance anyone to upload an old 16bit mcafee/norton/f-prot/dr.solomon one that fits the description?

For DOS I asked years ago the author of F-PROT, he made some 2009 definitions available though his forum for the DOS version that can be used with the latest 3.16f version - I will link it here since the program was free for home users and the 2009 defs came from the author himself in a public download link.
