Original PAL programming algorithm

Good luck--the programming details were jealously guarded by the chip vendors and usually only disclosed to qualified parties operating under an NDA. At least that's what I found when trying to get the lowdown a couple-three decades ago.

It is likely the same as TI's that is online someplace. The most common thing that changed on the early ones was the current limit.
I'd like the GAL information myself. TI shows the fuse mapping as well.

Does anyone have a documentation about original MMI PAL programming algorithm ?

MMI PAL Programmable Array Logic Handbook, Second Edition, 1981
www.bitsavers.org/components/mmi/_dataBooks/1981_MMI_PAL_Handbook_2ed.pdf

PAL Series 20 Programming, pages 7-6, 7-7 (pages 598, 599 of the PDF)
PAL Series 24 Programming, pages 7-14, 7-15 (pages 606, 607 of the PDF)

Each fuse to be programmed has a corresponding Input Line Number and Product Line Number. Tables are provided which specify the input pin values to select each Input Line Number and each Product Line Number. Tables are also provided which specify the input voltage levels and waveform timing parameters, along with programming waveform diagrams. There is a 9 step text description of the programming algorithm.

gslick, Thank you! I saw this book but never went so far...

It looks sligtly similar to tungsten EPROM (2x2048x4).

P.S. I've found a rare Soviet PAL clone. White ceramic and gold...
