Hi All,

Sometime last year, @davejustdave had an Osborne with about 150 Osborne disks that had come from a local store back in the 80s. He gave me the Osborne (since it wasn't the type of equipment he collects) and asked that I image all the disks he also had. I imaged them in IMD since that's the only setup I could do quickly (didn't want to research osborne disk formats, etc.), so I could get them back to him since he planned to sell off the disks and accessories. The question I have is, what should I do with these disk images. Is this something that should go on Archive.org, and if so, how? Also would IMD format be okay for that or do they expect some emulation format? Mind you, I have no intention of doing anything more with them then I already did (basically imaging them with ImageDisk and made a text file that says what the label said), but I don't want to keep sitting on them either.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Brian,
You could post the text file here on VCF so we all have an idea of what those IMD files include.
But, it would be nice for the CP/M folks to have the capability to download any they would like
to look at. For that you could upload the .IMD files to your Google Drive, or Dropbox and post
a shared link so the CP/M folks could have a look.

If they are IMD files of the FOG (Users Group), most of those are already on Bitsavers.

Thanks.

I will attach the Text file here, but I'm reluctant to post any of the files (or links) here. While we all know that this stuff is what one would call 'abandonware', there is no such thing and thus they're still under copyright (these are not all freeware/shareware like that FOG stuff). This site isn't the appropriate venue for those files (and the thread would just get deleted), which why I was looking for a more appropriate place for these kind of files. Some place either big enough, or small enough, to not have to deal with the minimal chance of legal issues. :)

Okay, figured out how to use Archive.org. They are uploaded there, a search for 'Wizard of Osz' on Archive.org should get to them. :)

Here are directory listings of the files I was interested in seing:

Yeah, I had a couple days to image the disks and no real time to go through most of them. If I tried, I'm sure I would have never finished imaging them before the disks went bad. My Osborne stuff has taken a backseat to a lot of my other projects, but I'd like to eventually go through some of the disks and see whats there. I assume most of the obvious stuff out there is duplicates of what you could likely have found before, but the 'Wizard of Osz' specific software probably had never been imaged or released before (whether that would have been a real loss or not, who knows.. haha).

Anyway, if anyone wants to take those disks, clean them up, convert them to correct formats or whatever... that would be great. I'm not in the archiving business so I just did it the only way I knew how. :)
