An interesting documentary on the early history of british electronic music claims that a PDP-8/S was the first computer installed in a private house in 1967 for the composition and sequencing of electronic music:

I found the whole program fascinating but if you are curious about just the computer, it is seen and discussed from 10:27 to 16:41 with some more glimpses of it and later PDP-8's at certain points from 20:21 to the end.

There is a PDP-8 that had been used for Music Generation in the London Science Museum at present in a Exhibition called "Oramics to Electronica - Revealing histories of electronic music"...
.... sorry I didn't get a photo the glass was just too reflective

Pontus, thanks for that, I've now been poring over the Digibarn pages with interest. I didn't know about the early history of the LINC, or Mary Allen Wilkes at all. It seems she really does take the honour of being the first 'home computer' user, as well as the builder.
I suppose we could more accurately define Zinovieff's PDP-8/S to be the first commercial computer privately purchased for a private residence then.
I recall a disassembled DEC LINC-8 surfaced on eBay last year and went for a tidy sum.

Steve.
