Random find: computer system with pdp 11/23 cpu

Between other projects and getting a bad cold, I haven't done much since my last post. I'll get back to this around the end of the week.

From what I remember, the case needs to be disassembled so that I can probe lines with the o-scope when running the RAM test program correct?
 
Yes, the best access will be to the top [component side] of the memory board.

Since you are a "semi novice" at troubleshooting these, I'd rely heavily on DIP CLIPS to avoid momentary shorts when applying scope probes as much as possible.

Work with only one probe "live" - which generally can't be avoided. Be sure to use one with a fine point unless you're confident you can clip onto an IC's pin without slipping.
 
Any Updates? Would like to know if you ever got it up and running. I'm a proud owner of a 11/73 version of the MDX-11 By SMS and this is a big help in figuring it out.
