Repairing my 2001-N

Well that's embarrassing! The 23XX was set for a 4k EPROM. I changed the jumpers to 2k and it's working. Keyboard on the PETTESTER is all 00 (Before it was FF) and I tested each key and they work.

I would never gave guessed in a million years that would be the issue so thanks for all the help and pointing me in the right direction. At least I learned so many things trying to troubleshoot a user problem.

Need to now boot with the original ROMs and see if the keyboard works but I'm 100% sure it will as I was using the same incorrectly configured 23XX and swapping out the PETTESTER and EDIT ROM's during testing.

I guess that's it for the PETTESTER now. Is there other software I can use to test the last of the I/O ports . Userport/Cassette/IEEE-48

Yes, there is a book from Primrose containing a BASIC program to test out the IEEE488 interface.

You do not need anything connected to the PET port, so this test can be performed at any time.

There were some 'good' faults on this machine...

The clue to the last one was the PETTESTER ROM running on a Universal board. I must remember that one for another day...
