Unfortunately, despite my experience with collecting and repairing these drives, I'm no chemist and so my knowledge on the subject is limited. I figured it was likely that the surface lubricant which was advertised as being on the surface had worn off in the landing zone due to many start/stop cycles over the years.The original stiction problem was that the surfaces were too smooth. Van Der Waal attraction but your drive could have been lube.
