Sharp PC-1460 not booting

I was recently given a Sharp PC-1460 Pocket Computer that isn't booting properly. When powered on it displays "busy" in small text on the top left of the screen and an * on the right. That's it. It doesn't respond to any keyboard inputs and reset has no effect. According to the manual, it should have a small line over the Calculator mode and a 0, but that's not happening.

I've replaced the main batteries (they were bulging but not leaking), and the RAM card battery tests good. I tried cleaning the contacts on the RAM card, but it had no effect. Any ideas?

FIXED!!! Turns out that there were some dirty contacts under the rubber terminal contact for the RAM. After a good scrubbing with some IPA and a cotton swab, and completely re-seating every button because my hands shake (the HEX key is upside-down now, but I don't care) it's now working perfectly!

Good job! I love working on old tech also. I have several Sharp pocket computers and accessories: 1 EL-5500II, 2 EL-5500III, 1 EL-5510, 3 CE-129P and a Realistic Micro 20 tape recorder for saving programs.
