My Dell Latitude 433c has developed a strange problem: I simply pulled it out of its case to boot it up and it doesn't recognize its memory expansion module or hard drive. I can't test the memory, but the hard drive works in another laptop. Any ideas as to what could cause this? The clock battery is dead, but I think it has flash BIOS, so that shouldn't matter, should it?

What the bios uses no, I don't think that matters, but it sounds like you ought to try to flash the bios. If it doesn't recognize its core components, might be time to.

You might try removing and reseating the memory module. Corrossion might have developed on the contacts. Might even take an eraser to the contacts. That might resolve the hard drive issue.

Flashing the BIOS might help. Of course, that'd only work if the old BIOS has become corrupted.

Have you tried going into the BIOS and checking settings?
