I was browsing the Register today (well via my RSS feed) and I thought I saw some chips with numbers I actually recognise.

Please check the link and tell me. Isn't that a 64K DRAM from well a hell of a long time ago?

Couldn't they find something a bit more uptodate! (Assuming I'm correct in my identification)

4164s aren't uncommon. They're in PCs, XT's their clones and lotsa ram cards. But yes, they are from the 80s.
