Even though the book was published in 1993, it's still good computer history. Both Randy and I consider it one of our favorites.

I asked Stan for his permission to start making an audiobook version in 2006, and both he and his publisher agreed.

So thrilled to be recording chapters again. Please check it out, you can just listen if you want!

That’s awesome — and honestly, it’s great to see this kind of classic computer history getting new life. Even though Stan Veit’s History of the Personal Computer came out in 1993, the perspective is still incredibly valuable, especially for anyone interested in how the industry actually took shape.

Getting Stan’s blessing back in 2006 makes this even more special, and it’s cool that you’re picking it back up and continuing the audiobook now. Recording these chapters feels like preserving history, not just retelling it. Chapter 13 is a fun part of The Atari Story, and the fact that people can simply listen makes it so accessible. Definitely worth checking out for anyone who loves early computing and Atari-era history.
