The Lost RCR Podcasts?

Okay, the title was a little over-dramatic but only the latest 30 or so podcasts are available because of a limitation in the RSS feed. Can the RSS feed (or an alternate) currently at http://rcrpodcast.com/rcrpodcast.rss list all podcasts? I started listening at Episode 70 a couple weeks ago because my phone thought that was the first episode.

In the past few months, I've listened to Retrobits, Floppy Days and am now at Episode 99 of the RCR Podcast. It is terrific to have these fabulous podcasts and I very much appreciate everyone's efforts in providing these great resources.
 
Unfortunately, the RSS is configured to show a certain number of Podcasts so you cannot download them through the RSS feed. All the episodes are on the site. Just go to http://rcrpodcast.com/ scroll to the navigation on the bottom then go to the last page to get to the first episode.

Thanks SkydivinGirl. I guess I was hoping that the RSS feed could be configured for all podcasts instead of 30. No problem.

Through a combination of the RCRPodcast.com site, a few select RCRPodcast pages on the Wayback machine and hand coding the first six episodes, I created my own RSS file and have now subscribed to the first 100 episodes. Listening to the first episode now.

Excellent! The RSS configuration is done on the web server side so there's no way to get the information outside of the way that you did it. :)

Very cool to see that you're starting from episode one. I'm not on the show any longer, but that was my baby!

I too started from episode 1, but can't seem to download episode 18, which seems to have been overwritten (on the servers) by a copy of 22. :shocked:

I've asked on reddit about this, but haven't got any replies. :sad:

Can someone connected to RCR dig up a spare/backup copy of 18 and post it? :D
 
Sorry for my late response, but no, I have quit podcasting pretty much, though I'm always open to being a guest on any kind of podcast where the subject interests me, especially a computer history related one. I was doing a very good podcast, but my time became too limited: http://www.historyofpersonalcomputing.com/

Wow, I checked at the site, and you're right, episode 18 has 22 instead. Unfortunately, the original site and mp3s have been deleted, so that episode does not exist any longer, unless someone has it saved in their podcast software. I'll email Carrington and Earl now and see if either of them have it saved.
 
Interesting. I never noticed episode 18 not being correct. If anyone has a link, I'd be interested.

If RCR wants my archive RSS file or anyone want to access the first 100 episodes, I have recreated an RSS file at http://vintagecomputer.ca/rcrpodcast.rss

New listeners can point your Podcast client to this file to be able to subscribe to the first 100 episodes (minus Episode 18 it seems). Alllinks point back to the main http://rcrpodcast.com site.
 
Tonight I'll check if I have the missing episode. I've listened since the beginning so I should have it. If so, I'll post a link and hopefully it will get back to the current admin for the site.

It appears that my Episode 18 is also Episode 22. The odd thing is that the CRC32 is different from my episode 22. Hopefully someone will find the original.

Thank you very much for the time you took in putting this together. I've been manually downloading the MP3 files and plopping them in a "manually added podcast" folder within my favorite podcatcher app like some form of neanderthal. This is way easier and will also bring the show notes with the downloads.

BTW, if anyone is interested and not aware, the History of Personal Computing podcast did come back, and Jeff and I are doing the shows regularly, with a new episode this week. http://www.historyofpersonalcomputing.com/
