The Retro Adventurers is now up and running. What makes us Different(tm) is that in each episode we tackle one main course (deeper dive) and one appetizer game (more cursory examination).

Available now on most major podcast platforms (be sure to search "Retro Adventurers", you get a whole bunch of different results with "adventures") or visit retroadventurers.com for other options.

(Later episodes sound better than Ep 1. Lessons were learned.)

We're still going strong, and 36 episodes in we finally covered Zork!

Of course, to do it properly we chose the oldest and the newest official Zork 1-ish game we could. That means Henrik Åsman's reconstruction in ZIL of a disassembled Muddle binary of the 285-point 1977 prototype of the game, and Steve Meretzky's 1987 exploration of a tape-load version of Zork 1 that Activision shoveled out as a cover tape in ZZAP!64 in 1990!

Very happy to be able to use my YouTube premium to listen while I work. My text adventures began with Pirate's Cove on the VIC-20. My Dad had us work through the game as a family and I loved it. 4 of us kids and my mom all throwing out ideas for him to type in and try. Later I got involved in BBS adventure games of course but then I discovered Trade Wars and that drew much more of my attention :)

We have a new format we're trying out:

>OPEN MAILBOX, where you >GET NEWS AND LISTEN TO IT is live! Nick and Jason cover new highlights in classic text adventures and neo-retro interactive fiction, including new Z-Machine/Infocom interpreters, an amazing Cornerstone prank-that-isn't, and more: retroadventurers.podbean.com/e/40/
