TI PC-100C thermal printer

Anyone know much about these ?
I have the cradle fitted with a TI-59 calculator which powers on and the calcultor works when fitted in the PC-100 cradle.
The thermal printer does not seem to work though.

Paper installed correctly and the roller/stepper seems to rotate freely by hand.

It would seem the thermal head may be working as it leaves marks on teh paper and gets warm but the paper does not advance.

You may wish to try this query over at the HP Museum forums which had a few threads on repairing TI-59. Nothing that matches this case. There was also the mostly moribund mailing list over at ti59.com

I don't have a service manual for the PC100 so I would be foolish to make a guess as to the cause.
