Troubleshooting VLB #2

Don't know what killed the first mobo either. It was working, came back to it and it looked like it was in DPMS sleep mode. But it was dead.

After re-reading this thread it seems the only component the problem motherboards have in common is the power supply.
 
Or the environment both the mobo and the DTC card were in. Perhaps what took out the clock signal on the mobo also killed most of the DTC board as well.

The only time I had a power supply failure it was really obvious: The system still tried to boot even, and the display was pulsing on and off. The problem with that one of the two big filter capacitors in the supply had popped. Surprisingly it didn't kill anything in the process.

Can't do anything else until later next week. Frustrating.
