VCF Montreal 2.0 - November 7/8!

That's great news. I missed the first one due to a broken leg. I just need to talk the boss into letting me take a couple of extra vacation days....
 
Hey everyone! I'll be traveling from the western end of Canada along with Mark and Jacob from the ReBoot ReWind team. We're looking forward to seeing you all!

I've been ramping up my SGI setup, so I'm looking forward to seeing any other SGI setups and potentially hike some gear back if the deals are right... Sadly I'm struggling to source an IndyBag, so bringing an Indy on the flight may be a bad idea. Still, it's way lighter than my Octane2...

We'll be doing some panels, so be sure to let us know if there's anything ReBoot-related you want to see or have covered! Stay frosty!

kool man i got a 12hr drive just to catch my flight in winterpeg from northern mb see if i can find my bob action figure still got the cd that came with him somewhere witch if i remember was just an ineractive map of mainframe

Yeah the CDs were all the same. The code was identical except for the last digit being sequential from 1-6 and a character based on the character. I dumped the Macromedia runtime and pulled out a bunch of buried low res and dithered renders we hadn't seen before. I'll have to get it up on Archive.org sometime.

I'll likely bring one of my blank D-1 tapes and maybe a prototype ReBoot figure.
 
I will also be there. It will be my first time ever going to something like this though I have watched videos on it.

I would like to know how the free table works. Obviously I know that it's a table for people to drop stuff off that they want to give away and all that, but how do you bring your stuff to it. I might be coming with potentially a lot of stuff. Someone else in Ottawa has a bunch of things they want to give away but they are not going to the show. I am potentially going to be getting that stuff and want to bring it on their behalf.

Are there carts or trolleys for people to bring in? He said he has about 60 pounds of stuff, plus I have a few things like books that I want to put there as well. I just have no idea how it will all be brought in.

if no one takes ur free stuff u have to remember to be prepaired to bring it back just a fyi

Noted. I will only be there Saturday So I will remember to swing back to the free table before leaving to grab anything that no one took. I still want to know how to get all the stuff in there.
 
I don't know what it is with travelling east but I've always found that compared to flying to Japan or driving tot he bay area, every time I've flown East it is way more expenisve. I booked in my flight/hotel package but maxed out my credit card in the process of landing Friday night and leaving Monday morning, so no travelling around the city for me! :(

Are you staying close to the school? If so you'll be on the South Shore and I am not sure what all there is there even though I lived in Montreal for a spell and go there every few months. It's over a month a way so there's time to make a dent in your credit card so that you take the REM train (or metro) to Montreal and wander around the old port and downtown.
 
The recommended lodging before it filled up was Hôtel Le Dauphin. It's a few minutes away on foot.
1ajs said he's gonna get to town a few days before me and scout around but otherwise I'm gonna be stuck not wandering too far from the downtown. :C
 
If it's the one on 1055 Rue Saint-Laurent O, Google Maps says it's a 21 minute walk. I don't know where downtown in Longueuil is, but you're a 15 minute walk from the Metro station to get you to downtown Montreal.

I'm glad I got my reservations back in April before it filled.
