I'm looking for a working laptop with EGA display, either color, monochrome or plasma (orange). Any brand would do as long as the laptop can boot and display. It would have to be shipped to Delaware, 19720.

You may reply to this thread and send me a PM.

Thank you!

EGA was pretty uncommon on laptops, I think. I've got a Toshiba T1600 which is EGA, I think, but it doesn't work, and I've heard that most don't work, because of SMD capacitor leaks on the power supply board.

Is there something that an EGA laptop will do that a VGA laptop cannot emulate?

Hi Fargo,
When I was working for the Feds, back in the late 80's (since retired), I had access to all kinds of laptops, the first being a HP DOS machine, very heavy and the mono display was okay. The next one that I had was a Gateway with VGA and then several AST models, one with a 386 mono display and another AST with a 486 and VGA. My point is that I never saw an EGA laptop either mono or color. No doubt that may have existed, but I would think that they were very short lived. Someone here may have one squirreled away, but I think it'll be a long shot. Good luck on your search.

T1600 is indeed EGA (technically TEGA, it can do 640x400) and mine also no longer works. Even when it was working the screen was terrible so I almost always used an external monitor.

Thank you all for your inputs and suggestions.

My request is still standing.

The Toshiba T3200 (non SX) and T5100 have EGA plasma. They are AC-only units though, so they don’t run on batteries, so if you want a battery powered machine they may not be for you.
