Warp 3: Where's my keyboard focus going?

I have recently installed Warp 3 + CSD 040 on a Pentium MMX system, and everything is working except...sometimes Presentation Manager completely loses keyboard focus. When this happens I can't get any window to become "active" (hilighted title bar) and therefore nothing can receive keyboard input. I can click buttons and change the foreground window, but the keyboard focus acts like it is anchored to a hidden modal window somewhere. CTRL+ALT+DEL works, so the keyboard isn't dead.

I initially noticed this while using Word for Windows and wrote it off as an app problem (although I distinctly remember using that app back in the day.) I have now installed some of the IBM developer tools, and this happens when I attempt to edit a Workframe/2 action profile. The dialog pops up, but I can't edit any of the settings text fields.

Does anyone have an idea what's going on?

This sounds like the infamous SIQ (synchronous input queue) problem with OS/2? I used OS/2 from 2.0 to Warp 3 in the mid-90's, and the system freezing like this is why I gave up on it. (I had almost no OS/2 software, I mostly ran windows 3.x and DOS apps under 2.x, but when I finally got a few apps to play with around the time 3.0 I found the system hung up *all the time*, it was, ironically enough, far worse at running its own software than it was Windows and DOS programs.)

I've seen some things going around that they finally mostly fixed this with one of the Warp 4 releases? Alas I've never tried it since quitting it in the mid-90's.

The first fix description in CSD 043 sounds awefully similar: "APAR=JR12859 APPLICATION HANGS WHEN SYSTEM MODAL DIALOG BOX COMES UP WITH NULL FOCUS". I might just try applying that CSD even through it's supposedly only for the server release.
