I was just over at Wierd Stuff in Sunnyvale, CA, and they have about 15 or so SIIG 8bit ISA serial cards (for IBM PC or XT slots), new in box, marked $3. It has sockets for two 16550, comes with one filled, one socket empty with header for second serial cable. I don't know if they have added them to the web site yet, but if you're not local, you can call and they'll probably sell them to you. http://www.weirdstuff.com
[Edit: more info, I read the manual - to expand the card from one to two serial ports you will need:
- 1 x 16550 serial uart
- 1 x 1488 quad line driver http://www.jameco.com/Jameco/Products/ProdDS/23157.pdf
- 1 x 1489 quad line receiver http://www.jameco.com/Jameco/Products/ProdDS/23181.pdf
- 1 x 10pin to db9 or db25 serial cable /]
Not sure if this is the right section to post. I don't work there; was there during lunch hour. I rarely see 8bit isa serial cards new in box, and also rarely see them with 16550 chips, so thought other people may be interested. The price could go up some from $3; apparently I was the first to buy one (two actually) and the guy at the register said "hmm, these seem to be priced low for new in box cards, but since you're here at the register with them that's what you get them for".
