Hi Everyone, I recently got an HP Pavilion Slimline s7421c with this motherboard: https://theretroweb.com/motherboards/s/asus-ptgv-dm, an SATA attached HDD , IDE Attached DVD Drive. I think it has Realtek Audio. How compatible is this hardware with Windows 98SE? Would i be able to find compatible drivers? Would this run well under 98SE or better under XP? Let me know. Thanks

XP would probably be best if you have the full RAM allotment.

There are patches for drivers that would let Win98SE work with SATA controllers. Other drivers for the system might exist but I can't find them in a quick search. Other systems with Socket 479 had Win98SE drivers but I remember the reviews being unfavorable.

This is just a guess but I think that Win95 can always fall back to using the slow BIOS INT API to access hard disks, so it would probably run without patches for the SATA controller, but really slow.
