WTB: DOS 2.11 floppy disk for Data General One Model 2

A while ago I bought an inexpensive DG One Model 2 laptop, the one which takes 720K 3.5" floppy disks. It came with a copy of MS-DOS 2.11, and everything was fine.

A few days ago, I was about to format a floppy disk on the laptop. For some reason it currently didn't remember it had a B: drive, so it tried to reformat A:. Usually this should not be an issue as the MS-DOS system floppy disk was write protected. However FORMAT.COM on this computer seems to be immune to write protect... :-(

I have tried to unformat and rescue the disk, but to no avail. I made a raw image dump and can recognize certain strings, so possibly a program like Norton Disk Doctor could salvage the disk again.

In the mean time, I would like to buy or trade a copy of the system disk. I have already tried to download some abandonware early DOS versions, but the computer refuses to boot using standard MS-DOS 2.11. I even found a Toshiba branded one, but it worked no better. Thus I'm afraid I need one that goes with the Data General One to begin with.

If you have something, send me a PM.

I have a pretty big collection of DOS versions but don't have any OEM copies by that company - if you get it, do you mind sharing a disk image so I can archive it?

If you are still intererested, I have a DOS disk that will boot your Data General and recognize drive B. I just tried it and it works. I will gladly make you a copy & send it. I am also looking to get rid of the computer. It is a DG model one, 2512-A. If you know of anyone interested let me know. Also give me an address to send the DOS disk, I'll pay postage.

Was this ever resolved? I'd love to find images of the DG-1 system disks for my restoration as well. I have the Rev 00 docs for it if anyone is missing those.

No and yes. I got ahold of disk images from an original DG One, but the images somehow were corrupted and could not satisfactory be written to floppy disk, neither from Linux nor DOS/Windows tools. I can't recall if I ever contacted Striker above.

Eventually I downloaded disk images from a Toshiba MS-DOS 2.11 and through a bit of fiddling managed to get a bootable floppy disk. The DG One boots fine from this version, but I don't know which DG special utilties I may lack. Anyone who has the original disks and is able to make image files probably should give it a go and upload somewhere.

Here are two original DOS versions for the DG One, one is 2.11 and the other is 3.20,
archived from a long time ago
Get them here, imz format

These are 720k floppy images, both of these came with the used DG One I bought back in the 90's and both are on original diskette if I remember correctly.
edit----->
Just took a pic of the disks that came with the DG One so you know what you are downloading

I would really really like to have the images for these DG-1 disks. My machine is restored but sitting untested. And of course I'd also appreciate the picture. I could post them somewhere permanent and post that link here if that's okay with you.

Sorry for bumping this 5 year old thread, but I'd really like to know if anyone still got these diskimages?

I'm currently fixing my DG-1 Model 2T that I got lying around for some time. Now that I've completely restored all hardware, and everything is working again, I'm looking for the original software that came with it. That's when I found this post.

Anyone here willing to help?

Thanks in advance!

I have two of the model 2 computers that I used back in the 80's. Unfortunately, I don't have a bootable 3 1/2 floppy that will work. I would be willing to pay for a working copy if anyone can help out. It would be a real blessings. I'm now retired and have time to play with these computers. Thanks
