Commodore 64/128 Bulletin Board List

I would like to formally announce the "resurrection" of the C64/128 Bulletin Board List. This list had been released monthly years ago, but it has not been updated since October 2003. I've decided to take it upon myself to bring this list back to life. I'm keeping the same basic format as the old list, but I'm including all known dial-up AND Telnet boards (the old list was for dial-up only). Anyway... I hope some of you will find this useful... :)

Credit goes to Golan Klinger for compiling the TelBBS List, from which I aquired the BBS names and Telnet addresses used in this list.

The August 2007 edition of the Commodore 64/128 Bulletin Board List is now ready for viewing. You can access the list at the following address:

I'm happy to report that for this update, there were NO deletions, 1 addition, and 1 has returned to online status after being offline due to hardware problems. So there are now 16 currently active Commodore BBS's! :)

The October 2007 edition of the Commodore 64/128 Bulletin Board List is now ready for viewing. You can access the list at the following address:

Current stats on C64/128 BBS's: As of today, 12 are up and running. 2 were up last month, but are not working right now, so will remain on the list to see if they return. 1 is down, but I&ve received confirmation from the SysOp that it will be returning. 4 were removed from the list due to being down for over 2 months and no communication from the SysOp.

There are a few dial-up BBS's left, but none of them run on Commodores. There is one that should be up sometime in the next few months, however. I'll be sure to add it to the list when it returns. :)

As far as connecting to the Internet-accessable Commodore BBS's, your best choice from a PC or Mac is to use CGTERM. You can find it here: http://www.paradroid.net/cgterm/

Wow, I never thought the day would come when there would be ZERO Commodore dial up BBS's left. I figured as long as analog phone lines existed, someone would keep at least one alive to preserve the BBS experience, busy signals and all.

I've been slowly working on bringing up a genuine C64 + dial up BBS up for some time now and finally have the equipment working properly, but the software is not quite there. This gives me some serious incentive to get things moving!
 
If anyone gets a new Commodore BBS up and running, PLEASE let me know so I can get it added to the BBS list. I think having a dial-up board running would be great! That is, if you don't mind paying for an additional phone line and only getting a few callers a month for your efforts. ;)

The December 2007 edition of the Commodore 64/128 Bulletin Board List is now ready for viewing. You can access the list at the following address:

There are currently 14 active Commodore BBS's, plus 1 that is temporarily down until early January while the SysOp is on holiday vacation.

In an effort to consolidate my various websites onto my own server, the C64/128 BBS List is now located at http://cottonwood.servebbs.com/cbm-bbs-list.txt ... I'll still keep it posted at the old address for a while, but eventually it'll only be available at the new address.

Additionally, the Cottonwood BBS Informational Website is now at http://cottonwood.servebbs.com , and my personal website is at http://cottonwood.servebbs.com/wiskow . Simple HTML pages with a note providing the new addresses have been posted at the old addresses.

The February 2008 edition of the Commodore 64/128 Bulletin Board List is now ready for viewing. You can access the list at the following address:

11 BBS's verified up and running today.

4 BBS's that were verified up for the last update were down today, so they'll remain on the list until the next update.

0 additions and 0 deletions.

I haven't had a chance to update the C64/128 BBS List since May. However, it looks like I won't have to anymore. In my absence, Dave Spriggs took it upon himself to design a Commodore BBS List website. This is an interactive website, allowing users to see both active and inactive BBS's, as well as edit listings and add new listings. This will allow for a much more accurate way for people to find active Commodore-run BBS's. So check it out! The website is called the Commodore BBS Outpost, and it's at http://cbbsoutpost.servebbs.com/
