Help
I have a tandy 2100 80486sx with 25 mhz processor.
When I started it a message stated, cmos battery low, could not get windows to load. took cover off chassis to change battery but it was not easy to locate. Question is where do I find a battery & is my Quicken software records damaged.
Thanks for any help. Neal

Obviously no one familiar with the Tandy 2100.

is my Quicken software records damaged.
A low battery won't cause that.

Question is where do I find a battery
I searched the Internet (probably like you) and couldn't find anything regarding the Tandy 2100 battery.
There's probably details in the user manual but every manual I saw on the Internet was for sale.

Generally, 486 battery types are:

1. 3.6V Lithium - see http://members.dodo.com.au/~slappanel555/misc/BATT_1.JPG
2. 3.6V rechargeable - see http://store.batteryspecialists.com/3v80hslf.html
3. 6V - see http://members.dodo.com.au/~slappanel555/misc/BATT_2.JPG
4. DS1287 or DS12887 - see http://www.maxim-ic.com/appnotes.cfm/an_pk/503
5. Standard coin cell

If you're having trouble spotting the battery, it's either well out of sight or it might be the DS1287/DS12887 type.
It might be the DS1287 or DS12887 type because the Tandy 2500XL uses one of those two.

If it's the the DS1287, there are issues in its replacement, and you should read thread http://www.vintage-computer.com/vcforum/showthread.php?t=9822
