Hi everyone. After 12 years (and after learning quite a bit about electronics) I had another look at the Soundblaster 16 card, and I got it working! All the capacitors were changed (by my wife, who's way better at soldering than I am), but the card was still not working. I did notice that a particular component seemed to be a lot hotter than the rest. After a bit of research we figured out that it was a voltage regulator. After poking around with a multimeter for a while we found out that that particular voltage regulator was working fine, but the one next to it (circled in red) was not. It's supposed to output 5v but we were only getting 1.6V. I am happy to say that after replacing that part, this SB16 that had been sitting around in a box for 12 years is working again! It just seems fitting that I let you guys know, especially after all this time. Thanks!
