MMBEEB interface in progress....

Ive finally started my MMBEEB interface. This will allow me to load games on the BBC Model B from a SD card.

Im hoping to finish it tonight. Just the EPROM to burn, and to put the cable on that links the reader to the beeb's user port.

Looking cool. I never got the interface I put together 1-2 years ago to work, but some day I'll try the updated (simplified) design. You mention the voltage regulator hard to find, is it a very special kind or would any regulator bringing 5V down to 3.3V work?

By the way, Charlie is a member of this forum too. His username is SirMorris if I recall correctly.

I removed a 3.3v regulator from a dodgy Vibra 16 soundcard in the end, so no cost.

You can find the reccomended regulators in the UK, but it normally involves a minimum order.

Should have the interface completed tonight! :D

Hi guys, can you tell me more about this please?

We have a BBC B here that we would dearly like to get going for our displays.

We'd love to convert a 1.2MB HD 5.25" drive if that's possible or buy a cheap 5.25" drive and also add some sort of SD card storage system too if that's possible.

Our groups main goals are to help save computing history by archiving as much software as we can using Catweasel etc, and also to find and restore / display old computers or re-home where ever possible.

I believe 1.2MB is out of the question. However if your BBC computer has a FDC interface (8271 or 1770), you can connect a 3.5" drive, see Sprow's BBC page.

The mmbeeb SD interface should also be quite straightforward. You will need to be able to burn your own EPROMs, but I suppose any user group worth its salt already have those facilities.
