Maxtor 1924 misbehaving

So I got this hard drive on Feebay for my 5160, which currently is waiting on a V20 or 286(for my amazing MACH 20) and on receipt I realized that the soldering on the 4 pin power connector had come loose and the connector kept falling out unless I pulled on it as it ran. I then proceeded to solder the connections back on. After that, I was able to connect it to power and data in my CPU-less XT and it powered on alright. However, I turned it on a few hours later and it wouldn't spin up and it flashed an error code. After about a day of troubleshooting, I came to the conclusion that it is inconsistent and will sometimes spin, but sometimes not. Any suggestions as to what is wrong?

Instead of deleting this thread, why not post how you managed to get it working so others can learn from your repair?
 
I actually just gently shook it around a little. Not rocket science! :D
