SX-64 Party Januari 2013 - Commodore SX-64 - ‘Who’s keeping up with the Commodore’

I see where someone on the Classic Computer list has some new CRTs for the SX-64 for sale, in case anybody here happens to need one.

We'll at least have some pictures on the site afterwards.
Oh, that is excellent. I will check out those photos when you have them posted.
Yes, that's our club! :) We can round up 3 or 4 SX-64's.
...maybe I can get my brother-in-law (who is a semi-professional photographer) to take some photos of us with the SXes.
Darn, my brother-in-law was less than enthusiastic about the photo gig. :( Oh, well, I will bring my cameras and see what I can do to light the scene (less than professional).
As for video, hmm... let me think about that for awhile. Must think of a clever hook... :)
O.K., I have some ideas. Now if I can convince the club members to act in front of the videocamera. ;)

We're doing this in Seattle too — well, Kirkland, technically. The nominal organizers are the Puget Sound Commodore Users’ Group, though it’s subsequently been bounced around the Seattle Retro-Computing Society mailing list too. (Hey, whatever makes it sound more important… it’d be a hoot if we managed to get a mention on the TV news or something.) This is gonna be fun!

Sounds like fun,

Unfortunately I don't know any other keen SX-64 owners here in Palmerston North, New Zealand. However, at the suggestion of Bathryin, I'm going to skip ahead in my YouTube schedule displaying my collection and cover my SX-64 in the next video (It was going to be the Epson HX-20). The video should be up by the end of next week and it will be fitting if I get it done in January, for the anniversary's sake.

Oh, that would be very nice.

(Below is our official announcement of the event.)

Happy New Year, C= and Ami aficionados!

The Fresno Commodore User Group has its next meeting from 11 a.m. to 1+ p.m., Sunday, January 20, at --

Bobby Salazar's Mexican Restaurant
2839 North Blackstone Ave. (corner of Blackstone and Michigan)
Fresno, California

Happy 30th anniversary, SX-64! This month we are celebrating the 1983 release of the Commodore SX-64. We're bringing in at least 3 SX-64's to the party. And we'll be running games, the SuperCPU, and a Capture II cart off those SX-64s. Joining us via Skype will be Berry De Jager and fellow SX-64 users in the Netherlands (don't forget that it will be night time for them).

In addition, members Louis M. and Vincent M. will be bringing in their VIC-20 for even more gaming. Louis will show us how to rebuild a classic Atari joystick with new parts. To top off the meeting, we'll have some "official" photos and video taken of the event!

Internationally yours,

Hi Commodore Fans,

This month marks the 30th birthday for the Commodore SX-64. Our good friend Berry DeJager has organized a global party for January 20 which coincides perfectly with our Puget Sound Commodore Users Group in Seattle, Washington.

Members from our sister club, the Portland Commodore Users Group, will be joining with us and celebrating this Commodore milestone. We'll start the event off at the Houghton II Starbucks at 10:00 a.m. and then move on to our regular club events at Kent Sullivan's Home (where we've had gatherings in the past).

It will be a fantastic event, displacing all those hipsters with their iStuff - we have about 12 confirmations so far for invading Starbucks with SX-64s. Even if you don't have an SX-64, come anyway. Maybe even bring a regular C64. We'll have an Internet bridge so we can get on their free Wi-fi with our Internet devices (Comet64, etc.).

For more information about the Commodore SX-64 Party, please see the following links:

Time and Location:
Sunday, January 20, 2012 10:00am - 9:00pm
Houghton II Starbucks
6733 108th Ave NE
Kirkland, WA 98033

If you can't make the Starbucks SX-64 party, you can still join us at Kent's house later in the day. For his location information, please email me.

Happy Birthday, Commodore SX-64!

Great video Terry! Now the bad part is I watched the commercial afterwards and now I'm keep hearing that commodore is keeping up with me song looping through my head. The music in Commando was quite good. I know it's simple but even just having Pac-man on the sx-64 was such a great example. It looks, sounds, and plays just like having an arcade system in your house (or vintage computer display). It's not at all putting the system to any stress test but it does the job of showing how a portable computer at that time could produce some pretty heavy gaming experience.

Checking at Berry's blog at http://c64.berrydejager.com , I found that more clubs/people are joining in on the celebration tomorrow. In addition to Berry's group in the Netherlands, the Fresno Commodore User Group, the Portland Commodore User Group, and the Puget Sound Commodore User Group, the Toronto PET User Group, the Central Texas Amiga Computer Society, and users in France are joining in. Wow!

What an international shindig!

Sounds like a great event and kudos to the organisers. Will someone (Berry?) be writing and overall summary report with pictures of the meetings from around the world?

Wow Brad. With boxes?! Very nice! :) Our CTACS meeting will be on the 22nd, so in Texas fashion we'll be casually late to the party ;-) However I did want to say if you're in the Austin area and interested in going let me know. George offered if there are new members or guests coming he'd be happy to bring his Amiga x1000 (the latest Amiga gear). It's really neat to see what they're up to right now (Hyperion). But if it's just the usuals it'll be pizza, beer, and just the sx-64. Still a good time to be had.
