I was just told in my c64 youtube video that my 64c has a breadbox keyboard in it. If you look at the picture above, you will see that the keys are black like a C64 computer. But the casing is a 64c. The picture on the 64c manual shows the keys a light tan color.

My question is, did they make some 64c computers like this brand new or is my 64c a tweak computer? I do not remember. I thought I bought it brand new; due to I have the manuals for it.

My next question is, will this bring the value of it down, up or the same? If they made them like this, then I would think the value is the same. Any input would be great.

Thx,
Tony

I'm not sure what versions there were. I'm pretty sure the keyboard are compatible between the systems though so if a keyboard went out you could replace it with any other version. The point of it working, etc I don't think it'd affect the value any unless it's an earlier version but the c64 being so common it's tough to get a good value out of it. The software you have I love though! They're fairly desirable for any collector. I was trying to acquire them for a while too since I used to play them on PC but never had the opportunity to play them on a Commodore or other platform.

I don't think the keyboard color means much, they're the same keyboard inside. I've seen them with both color keyboards. Commodore was pretty pragmatic aboug getting parts wherever they could for as cheap as they could. It's likely they just used up old C64 keyboards on the C64C until they ran out.

Hi Hatta,

Thank you for the info on the keyboard. That is what I was kind thinking too; due to I was sure I bought this brand new. Hard to remember that long ago. :)
