Sorry for all the IIGS questions. But I read on an apple knowledge base that 3.5" floppies should assigned to slot 7. And 5.25 to slot 6. Now if I daisy chain a 3.5 to a 5.25 I am guessing I should assign slot 6? Please advise. I know the 3.5 will work on slot 6 that's how I did my initial testing and found the bad eject mechanism.

The 3.5 drive on the built in smartport will show up on slot 5, the 5.25 drives will be on slot 6. Slot 7 is usually used for hard drive controllers, or for the built-in Appletalk.

I hope you meant you're daisy-chaining your 5.25 to your 3.5 -- 3.5 drives go first in the chain, followed by your 5.25 drive(s).

Set slot 5 to Smartport
Set slot 6 to Disk Port

If you prefer to boot from 5.25, then 3.5 - set your Startup option to Scan.
