I've got package of King's Quest V (version 0.62 / VGA).
All disks are 3.5" HD format (8EA)
But a few of disk 1 is damaged and RESOURCE.CFG is written.

This is file list by DIR.

Can anyone send diskimage of disk 1 by PM?
(Remember that RESOURCE.CFG must Not be written on disk 1.)

I'll look around and see what I have. v0.62 isn't ringing a bell, but I know that I've multiple version numbers on the game - might get lucky?

I have an image of Disk 1, 0.62 version, but it is for a 1.2MB disk. The files are identical to your listing.

Oh, and whether RESOURCE.CFG is present or not makes not a whit of difference. If the file does not exist, the game's installer will create or modify it on the disk once you run the install. Delete it if it makes you feel better.

I only want 3.5" version of diskimage (disk 1)
I think RESOURCE.CFG should not exist on disk 1.

I have looked at many, many images of the first disk of Sierra SCI games, and they virtually all have RESOURCE.CFG on them. If you want a pristine image, eBay's prices for the game are very reasonable, but virtually all of them would have been played at some point and the file will be on the floppy.

I bought 3.5" diskette version of this. (VGA version 062)
Unfortunately disk 1 is modified. (A few of sectors are unreadable.)
It is not so easy to recover this as factory default, hehehe.

Are any other files unreadable or unable to be properly copied from the disk?

It sounds like whomever last installed it used a drive with a defect that manifested itself when writing to disk. Dirty or out of alignment head perhaps. If they installed the game using this bad drive, the errors would become apparent when RESOURCE.CFG was written.

Obviously, you are not going to get anywhere with the original disk. What I would to get to factory default is to make an image of disk 2 (or any other disk) and write that image back to a formatted blank disk. Delete the file on disk 2 and then copy over all the files from disk 1 except for RESOURCE.CFG. Make sure the date and time stamps are preserved. I sincerely doubt that KQ5 uses disk labels. When finished you will have a disk that is imperceptible from the factory default.
