I find references to it out on the Internet, but they also could be false trails because someone's mixing up the TRS-80 Color Computer with the other TRS-80 models. I have not actually found the application program anywhere.

Was Zork actually made for the CoCo? If so, was it a tape program, or a disk program, or both? And most importantly, if it was made for the CoCo, can anyone provide me a pointer for where to go and get it?

Thanks for listening.

smp,
AFAIK Zork was never available for the CoCo (it was available for the TRS-80 Models I and III however).
Check out the compatible systems on the pic I put up in this other thread (as of 1983):

I too have seen mention of the Infocom games available for the CoCo but can't find them anywhere.

EDIT:
It must be out there though!

More EDIT:
Found them:

EDIT 3:
Verified on VCC emulator:

Rats, rats, and RATS!

So, I download Zork_I.dsk. So close, so close!

I get HDBDOS loaded into my CoCo 3.

I get Drivewire going with the .DSK image.

DIR shows only GAME.BIN

RUNM"GAME clears the screen, prints "THE STORY IS LOADING ..." in the middle of the screen.

A few seconds go by...

And then I get:

INTERNAL ERROR 14
END OF SESSION

And the computer is frozen.

BAH !!!

So, here are my questions:

Is my problem because I do not have Tandy Disk Extended Basic? because I have only HDBDOS?

Is it possible that this is one of those programs that will not run on a CoCo 3?

Is it possible that this program requires actual physical disk drive and controller hardware to run?

Any advice will be welcome. Thanks in advance.

It should work on a CoCo 3.
Did you try:
LOADM"GAME.BIN":EXEC

Thanks very much for all your attention, amadama.

Yes, I tried that, as well. Always the same result.

I am not very good with the VCC emulator, and I am currently trying to use it on my Mac...

And, yes, I have reproduced your results in VCC.

So, I am assuming that my problem has something to do with my not having Tandy Disk Extended Basic, nor any physical disk controller or drive, and I am running HDBDOS only.

Oh, well, perhaps I have to invest in a little bit more hardware... 8-)

Thanks agin for all your attention and support!

Sorry, HDBDOS and DRIVEWIRE are out of my scope of knowledge.
I hope you can get it working and please post your results for others.
Good luck!
