On Saturday at the Nostalgic Computers exhibit at Maker Faire 2015 in San Mateo, California, I met CBM founder Jack Tramiel's son, Leonard Tramiel. We talked about Commodore, his father, the 25th Anniversary of the Commodore 64 which was held at the Computer History Museum, and the Commodore Vegas Expo. He checked the calendar on his cell phone. He had another event in Las Vegas (which I believe is The Amaz!ng Meeting 2015 -- https://www.amazingmeeting.com ) the same weekend as CommVEx, and he said that he could come to CommVEx!

Though I don't have firm confirmation from Leonard, it is a strong possibility that he will be appearing.

Wow! The stories he could tell us... He already told me a bit about his father at Maker Faire, information that I had not known. He said he was going to talk to Bil Herd also. Think of it... Bil Herd and Leonard Tramiel together! I guess I'll have to bring to CommVEx the brown C64 that Leonard's father autographed for me!

Sincerely,
Robert Bernardo

awesome , i bet he has some great stories. Ask him why his dad walked out of Commodore and pretty much sealed its fate...

yes it was , but he also wanted his boys in key roles in the company and he wanted to expand Commodore but Gould didn't want to invest huge sums of money in Commodore. Im curious to know what went off. Although its rumoured that he never spoke about it to anyone. The boardroom meeting with Gould was overheard i believe.

mike.

And all I meant to say was that what was in the book is what I had believed for a long time; but, it wouldn't be entirely surprising if it was wrong. Yes, it would sure be interesting if Leonard has any comments on it. (What could he say that wouldn't be interesting at this point though?) :)

I remember when Commodore started winding down quite a few users lamenting about how it all started with Gould kicking out Tramiel, and that it was ultimately all Gould's fault. It was only hearsay though, true or not I don't know.

We will never know what went off . The later management of commodore have threatened legal action against anyone who talks about what went off ... Or so I'm told ;-)

im afraid so yes. some people have said they will prosecute if there name is used.

and that was recently , well after commodores demise.

Let's face it if commodore was still around now and failed in the same way as it did with top level executives being paid millions as the company failed to pay its debts ..some people would be under investigation I'm sure.
