Error Encountered Initialising Hard Disk 0

Hiya,
Trying to get my IBM AT working. I have two hard drives and both come up with this error. Ive set the right heads and sectors as per some internet pages.
Faulty drive or miss configuration?

I have a Maxtor 1140 and a Maxtor 2190. Drive parameter are form this site:

fdisk does not show any drives. Do I need a low level format or something?

The drive beeps once when started.

Hi Rob,

Is the installed controller the same one that the drive was originally LLFed with? If not, yes, it needs a LLF.
