    Found Old Invoice

I’ll add the first page from my ComputerLand price list when I was shopping for a 5150. My purchase resulted in my first bank loan!

    IBM 5150 U28 ROM Socket

I recall at one time there was a SCSI drive option that included a ROM chip to insert into U28

    IBM 5170 Rom issue

I never knew you could order an 5170 without a hard drive.

Getting a Gotek to work with a Toshiba Satellite 110CS

I believe Zeparras had mentioned the external mounting was temporary while he debugged the physical connections. He was looking into a future mod of abandoning the Gotek case and mounting the board internally. Also, even with a functioning CF, some apps will stubbornly look to drive A: for...

    IBM PC 5150 Rev. A S/N: 0108587 - In the Original Box!

That’s a nice board. I also have one, matching my s/n109596. I’ve replaced the rubber/foam on this one and also two later ones. They were all severely degraded and crumbling. Good to do as part of a thorough cleaning.

Why did IBM create CGA - What user was there target?

CGA was the the go to for anyone wanting APA graphics. It took some time before other options became available and there were compatibility issues. Back in ‘81-‘82, 640x200 APA was pretty impressive. An hour later, you’d return to your PC and see that amazing plotted factual! :)

Finally got myself another Rev B. IBM 5150!

A more valid production date is sometimes ink stamped on the inside of the front bezel. I accidentally damaged a datestamp on one of my RevA systems while cleaning it. :/

8 Bit Adlib Compatible Sound Card, IBM 5160.

Amazing you found that number! Haha. Still have the promotional record I sent away for.

8 Bit Adlib Compatible Sound Card, IBM 5160.

I bought an AdLib when they were first released and initially there was no game support. What attracted me was visual composer and, as TamaMan said, Jukebox.

    Compaq Portable 1 PSU

It was a strange design and certainly caused confusion with someone already accustomed to using a 5150. I too remember when I first got my Portable 1 I thought it was defective.

    IBM Keyboard M membrane

Thank you for jumping in, your knowledge on these is awesome.

    IBM Keyboard M membrane

I wouldn’t think your XT Enhanced boards membrane would be interchangeable IBMs InfoWindow board. Its additional function keys would of course require a more complex matrix and with all the work involved, would it be worth the effort? Better to buy a replacement membrane from Unicomp or, better...

    IBM PC 5150 Rev. A S/N: 0108587 - In the Original Box!

'...seems to actually be two editions for DOS 1.0" I remember the news media back then making a big deal about how IBMs new computer can't add. I think the modified DOS 1.0 appeared shortly after that. COMPANY NEWS; Flaw in an I.B.M. Computer

    "Souping up" this NEC Ready

I didn’t see a 5 1/4 floppy in the first NEC picture. Above the CD Roms is what looks like a 3 1/2.

    IBM PC 5150 Rev. A S/N: 0108587 - In the Original Box!

Things have progressed really well. I was trying to read the bank 0 RAM chip dates from one of your images. Interested to know roughly where they were, supply wise for that early 8587 s/n. One of the early ones I have is s/n 9596 and the bank 0 RAM is dated 8140. Unlike yours, the...
