    Getting terminals to work

Might try on the Communications menu switching Printer from Auxiliary to Main. That should change the port the terminal talks on to the Aux port.

Not a big replay one, but massively awesome: Star Control II.

    Model II Resurrection

Could you do me a favor and take a pic of the hard drive key? Supposedly all of them were the same, and I'm missing them on all my 8meg disks.

    Model II Resurrection

Looks to be in very nice condition. I'm curious that the first picture shows a 5? 15? meg hard drive, but no hard disk controller. Definately has rifa capacitors starting to crack in the power supply.

    Need Help with Installing Soundblaster

Typically near the top, right after DEVICE=HIMEM.SYS. Going from memory (snerk) and assuming DOS 6.2x: DEVICE=C:\DOS\HIMEM.SYS DEVICE=C:\DOS\EMM386.EXE DOS=HIGH,UMB Should get you most of the way there. DOS=HIGH,UMB tells dos to load portions of itself into the High Memory Area and Upper...

    Need Help with Installing Soundblaster

Config.sys is looking for a dos mouse driver, mouse.sys, in the windows directory. Only needed for mouse support in dos programs, windows has it's own driver. You can do a 'dir /s mouse.sys' from c:\ to see if you have one in a different directory.

Anyone have success with SSH over Zimodem?

Are you using ATDS"NAME:PASS@HOSTNAME.DOMAIN"? The (rightfully) redacted 'NAME:PASS' looks to be awfully short in your pics. edit- caught by the autoconvert of [colon]P to an emoji. I'll leave it.

Soldering fallacies -- heat capacity vs. temperature

I've been using a Metcal iron since around '93. I don't think I'll ever use anything else except for oddball requirements. There definitely is a difference, when switched on its ready in single digit seconds. I haven't done any kind of measuring, but the temperature doesn't seem to 'sag' when...

    IBM Thinkpad 730T MIL config?

MIL in this case stands for "Machine Interface Layer", part of the PenPoint OS. http://www.bitsavers.org/pdf/go/GG24-3978-0_PenPoint_Operating_System_Overview_and_Application_Development_Feb93.pdf

    Getting terminals to work

With some exceptions, terminal keyboards are completely incompatible between manufacturers. Signaling rates, protocol, voltage levels, polarity, everything can be different even if the connectors are the same. You could wind up plugging a 30 volts supply power into a ttl data line.

    Norcom Model 3 clone

They make nice drop-in pin compatible replacements these days. Haven't used one myself, but that's an ideal spot for one. Look for '7805 switching regulator replacement'. Just desolder the old one and solder in the new.

Is it possible to directly program machine language on the PC-1?

As far as I can tell, even the commercial programs on tape were written in basic.

    SPARC LT

Definatly a custom motherboard, not surprising since Toshiba was good at that. 25Mhz Cypress CY7C604 cpu, Weitek 3171 fpu. Closer to sparcstation 1+ spec. Looks like you could try overclocking to 33Mhz with the jumpers near the CPU. 8 megs of parity ram, I'd be looking for 4 meg 30 pin parity...

    SPARC LT

There's a thing I had no idea existed. Very pretty, looks a lot like the T3100. From what I'm seeing it's a 20Mhz sparc with 1152x900 display. Probably simillar to the sparcstation 1. Should be able to treat it as a sun4c architecture for OS install purposes. Very nice screen for the day. I've...

    Help with HP OmniBook 300

Typically the third terminal is one end of a thermister with the other going to -. Lets the charger know if the battery is overheating. Try measuring resistance between - and the unmarked terminal.
