    TRS-80 Physical Damage

I finally found one! It was pulled from a TRS-80 Model 4. Not tested, admittedly, but has no screen burn in, which is wonderful. Now all I have to do is find a bezel and we can start cooking.

    TRS-80 Physical Damage

You've used one of these tubes on a Model 4? Was the pinout the same, or did it require rewiring of the socket that plugs onto the back of the tube. Regarding shirsch's point about that transformer snapping off and killing the tube, I wonder if the seller would be willing to separate it from...

    TRS-80 Physical Damage

Unfortunately, I reached out to CRT Solutions to inquire about the M31-334GH, and was told that they no longer have the low G2 voltage tubes like this. Their remaining models are for industrial applications and/or high end monitor applications. It would seem that it is, as the kids say, "so...

    TRS-80 Physical Damage

Indeed it would be. I can't assume that ALL M31-334GH were green, as my Model 4 was had the M31-334GH... I just had an epiphany. My model was, in fact, an export (to Canada). Thus, what I thought was a B&W screen was instead a green screen. The next thing I am wondering: my model was a...

    TRS-80 Physical Damage

I found that they were included in their receiving tube manuals. However, I couldn't find an edition new enough to contain the M31-334GH. The newest manual is from 1973, and I probably need one from 1977, if they even published them at that point. I'll call the parts distro tomorrow and ask...

    TRS-80 Physical Damage

I've had no such luck, unfortunately. It doesn't seem like there's much data out there on these, unless I'm simply using the wrong keywords. RCA made, back in the day, vacuum tube info books for servicemen. Did they also make them for CRTs? That might be a way to find out.

    TRS-80 Physical Damage

I did contact him. Sadly, his store of parts has dwindled over the past few years to almost nothing, which is par for the course for a lot of these old devices. He is keeping an eye out for extra parts for me, though. Also, is there any meaningful difference between an M31-334GH and an...

    TRS-80 Physical Damage

The original yoke that came with the TRS? In the event that it is damaged (I haven't inspected it yet because of the broken glass), is it possible to replace it?

    TRS-80 Physical Damage

Maybe this isn't a total write-off after all. I'll need to get a new bezel, and maybe if I can find that broken piece of the shell I can plastiweld it back into place. I think the brackets for the CRT board are damaged, so I'll have to see about that. They look salvageable.

https://crt-solutions.myshopify.com/products/m31-334gh Well I'll be, that was the model number, and these guys say they have it stock.

    TRS-80 Physical Damage

These are the full stickers and markings on the tube. I don't think I missed any others. 1944GPW, I sympathize with your pain. I would be doubled over in pain breaking perfectly good, well-built machines. I know IBM saw it as business as usual, but still.

    TRS-80 Physical Damage

This is a quite beautiful write up regarding a fascinating, space age technology. These tubes really are works of scientific art. This is what I could get off the tube as it sits in the case currently. If the info in this picture is not enough, I can see if I can get more of the label in the...

    TRS-80 Physical Damage

If I can't find a new CRT, then I will indeed consider the LCD option. It's something that will get the machine up and running if all else fails, which is what matters. I also appreciate everyone relaying their horror stories with FedEx/UPS/USPS. It seems I find myself one of many who have...

    TRS-80 Physical Damage

I hope so as well. Indeed, I too suspect that to be the case. I will say, though, that UPS gave it a right thrashing. The box was in horrible condition when it got here. It's also not the first time I've had a package arrive from them having well beyond the average wear and tear.
