    PDP-8/s restoration in OZ

One solution might be to use a UPS backup with a pure sine wave output made for the US market, and investigate whether minor modifications are possible to power it from 230 VAC 50 Hz. The device would need to be tricked into a mode where it would generate the pure sine wave output when the...

Testing my RK8E and failure ocure

Finding signal names in the original hand-drawn DEC schematics is a real pain. Fortunately, Vince captured the entire RK8-E in KiCAD. I've downloaded his schematics (M7104 through M7106) and imported into EasyEDA so I can ctrl-F and search for a specific name. It makes finding and tracing...

Testing my RK8E and failure ocure

From the latest post and our DM, it looks like great progress being able to boot OS/8 Following up on the halt at 2253... The expected result is 2202 but the test result is 6202, so bit 0 is the problem. Tracing the status register read in the schematics; bit 0 is Control Done: which comes...

Testing my RK8E and failure ocure

I believe it's possible to reverse the order of the cards, so either M7104 or M7106 can be in front. The challenge is getting easy access to the M7105.

    RK8E debugging

Your software and firmware is the latest: Pico software v2.7, FPGA firmware v2.8 Emulator main board serial numbers 0048 and up have the latest software and firmware.

    RK8E debugging

This is really strange. @thunter0512 and I did a lot of testing with DHRKC. Tom sent me a copy that he had so we'd be testing with the same thing. It's also archived here on github: https://github.com/G-Wiley/RK05_Emulator_Tester_System_v2/tree/main/_binary_images/PDP-8_maindecs

DEC Front Panel Donation to the RICM

Could it be this? Is that part of the front panel a separate piece?

    RK8E debugging

I had a similar issue with the delay line on my RK8-E, but it was still attached with one wire. Needed to Dremel into the epoxy package of the delay line to expose the leads to re-attach the jumper wires. Works great now though, that was the only issue

    RK8E debugging

All quite clever implementations of cases. I never imagined anything other than the rack shelf

Northern Europe diablo series 30 disk drive terminator.

You can have JLCPCB make a terminator for you. Just make either the socket or pin (keystone)adapter and a terminator board that plugs into the adapter. https://github.com/G-Wiley/RK05_Emulator_Tester_System_v2/tree/main/Diablo_Adapters

    PDP-11/15 revival

Cleaning inside and reforming the large electrolytics in the power supply. This was my first attempt at reforming and didn't collect data as well as I would have liked: https://forum.vcfed.org/index.php?threads/fun-stuff-just-got-a-new-old-pdp-8-m-chassis.1238187/post-1256186 Better data...

    PDP-11/15 revival

I second that idea to used Vince's 3D shapes. I had some of his switch handles printed by JLC3DP and they turned out well,, printed in nylon, I think. Would have to check the order history to confirm. The only thing is the color choices were gray or black. There may have been some detail with...

    PDP-8/S

Wow! I'm envious, looks like lots of fun. That's fantastic that the red modules were part of the deal. Looking forward to follow your progress on the restoration.

    DEC units on ebay

You're right. I noticed a huge proportion of green modules and no red modules at all! And many blank slots. There's a close-up of some G021 modules... I think those belong in the next generation of machine (8/I and 8/L). It's like somebody just stored spare flip chip modules in this backplane...

    Diablo Series 30 connectors

Thanks for the tip, I'll watch for those. I was desperate and committed a minor sin to connect power to the drive. I figured that if someday I find an MRAC14S it would be possible to clean the solder off of the tips of the pins and the real connector would make contact on the sides of the pins...
