Welcome. I've never been to the Canadian prairies, but I'd like to go someday. Are there any particular older devices that you prefer to restore or collect? I like mostly IBM and compatible stuff, but I've got some Commodore 64 and a tiny bit of Apple stuff too.

The board wouldn't quite fit on the scanner I had easy access to, so I scanned it in both directions. My older scanner seems better, and I think it will do longer documents, but it's in storage right now. They also seem a little fuzzy, perhaps because they cannot sit flat on the glass.

I wouldn't expect an HD drive (with an HD formatted disk) to work on a compaq portable, I don't think the controller supports HD. The keyboard cable uses a square plug, instead of a round DIN like most XT class keyboards. I think someone suggested at there was a different voltage present too...

I know I've got at least one loose board and another in an XT, that are the 64K to 256K variety, I'm not sure if they are the same though. Are you wanting the board placed on a scanner? Or will a photograph work? I don't think my scanner would handle a board that big, and I'm not sure of the...

I wonder if those disks are really QD. 7 disks is how many were used with windows 3.1 and HD 1.2MB floppies.

There are other diagnostics out there too. I've got a set of the Landmark service diagnostics on floppy, but they would not work in your scenario, because they seem to only support intel or intel clone CPU for some reason. They would not run on an IBM motherboard I had installed a V20 in.

Many times there are catalogs from the manufacturer that have been archived. Bitsavers seems to have quite a few.

I bought a redragon K605 as a joke because I think it’s hilarious. It’s a 200% keyboard. Almost useless, but I think it might be good if you work wearing welding gloves or something. ;)
