    Barrel Jumper from 1984

It is a simplified Donkey Kong. Note that the horizontal elements don't have the steep slope of the original. Probably made the BASIC code much easier.

    Perifractic wants to buy Commodore

Some have not even managed to make a working prototype before going out of business. Others did finally get a working prototype but that was years after spending all the funds raised that were intended for manufacturing and support. This is a harder business than many expect.

Searching for NFormat v1.10 with its documentation, by Nathan L Zineback (1992)

Your search would have worked better with the surname "Lineback." See http://toastytech.com/files/nformat.txt for documentation

    Custom text mode on EGA

Take a look at the Sep 16, 1986 issue of PC Magazine. That article shows a few higher resolution text modes that are possible with a standard EGA monitor. 80x50 was the most without an external clock generator while 120 column mode was possible by attaching a 24 MHz crystal to the feature...

    Suddenly, 1.2MB drive won't read 360K

The idea of a simple confirmation that the data rate is what it should be would be to write 360K disks in the 1.2 MB drive. If the data rate was too low, the end of a written track would overwrite the beginning of the track. Compare what was written to what was read. If there is a difference...

Basic word processor that pauses printing at end of each page?

Some of the early word processors like Electric Pencil were designed around typewriter style modes where the inserted paper could be moved to the correct position before text is sent to be printed. I can't find a command that would force a pause to do that adjustment with each printed page...

    Suddenly, 1.2MB drive won't read 360K

There is one other unlikely possibility. The 360K read/write mode needs to be at 300 kbps instead of the normal double density 250 kbps. The disk is spinning faster so the data needs to be written faster. One could test for that by writing a disk to capacity and seeing if tracks aren't complete...

    Perifractic wants to buy Commodore

Two companies have been trying to introduce new graphical calculators very similar to the TI-84 line. Numworks has been available for a few years while Zero has yet to release despite having about 5 years of development. Calculators are complex. I admit I would welcome even a Casio clone with...

    Differences between model 1, 3 and 4

IIRC, the Model III did not support Level I BASIC cassette interfaces. The 4K Model III was useless. It didn't even make much sense for Tandy to sell since 16K RAM was the same price as 4K RAM so Tandy would have had to eat $300 on each unit.

    Perifractic wants to buy Commodore

The previous two Youtuber efforts to reclaim an old business name I can recall involved creating a game console. Those were unsuccessful. New Commodore at least seems to have the virtue of not aiming for a game console.

Where do I get ACORP 5ALI61 Super Socket 7 Motherboard driver?

Check if the BIOS lets you enable the USB ports. If yes, then see if software will detect the existence of the ports. If that also succeeds, then install the cable that has USB ports and find out if any USB devices will be detected after being plugged in. USB 1 support was spotty. The...

Where do I get ACORP 5ALI61 Super Socket 7 Motherboard driver?

I have a similar board and a USB add on card did work. Good chance of Win98SE having a built in driver that would work. Otherwise, I hope whoever is selling the card kept it with the driver disk.

Dial up hardware modem vs software modem

The best method is to check the datasheet for the modem. That would indicate whether it is a Winmodem or a standalone modem. I actually checked the US Robotics site and they list identical PCI modems as having a controller in the server model while being a Winmodem in the OEM desktop model. If...

    OS/2 vs. early Windows

IBM did adopt networking early on with the Extended Edition. The problem was that Extended Edition was very expensive and few needed networking, 3270 emulation, and a SQL Server at the same time. Anyone who did need all that would have a challenging time installing it on the limited capacity...

    Home water heater replacement...

The drain doesn't help all that much with the sediment since the drain is several inches above floor of the tank and all that gap will slowly fill in.
