Repairing a Compaq Prolinea 4/50 with corroded PS/2 circuit

Repair complete! Cleaned up the traces with some isopropyl and vinegar, then patched the ground, clk, and data lines that had been severe. Tacking the wires on was a bit of a chore since the solder became hard to melt from the corrosion. Once I made sure the pad went from the port area to the...

Repairing a Compaq Prolinea 4/50 with corroded PS/2 circuit

Recently got me a Compaq Prolinea 4/50 as I liked the low profile look of the computers. Was able to talk the seller down due to obvious battery corrosion... and wow no kidding; the old Ni-Cad battery had eaten away parts of the PS/2 circuit, specifically for the keyboard. Amazingly other than...

    Should I get a 5151 or a 5153 monitor?

TIL Brother is that old. Love their modern printers! Indestructible and the laser ones last forever on toner.

IBM 5151; Power but no video

Fixed the IBM 5151! Seems when I reconnected the video wire the bipolar cap had killed itself. It became disconnected from the two terminal pins. I wonder if the cap was what caused the wire to melt in the first place? Anyways, recapping the whole board + replacing the bipolar with a film cap...

IBM 5151; Power but no video

Well, I found the issue! The video line had burnt off on the board side (the wire that goes to the neckboard). However putting the chassis back in now the display won't power on :(. When removing the main power cable to the chassis the thing was mighty stuck, so I thought I may have broken...

IBM 5151; Power but no video

Got a IBM 5151 that I've been trying to figure out. The CRT has power, but no video shows up on the screen (setting the brightness to max shows raster lines). Tried replacing the 7406 chip. Checked the contrast pot and it goes from 0ohms to 500ohms Checked against a IBM 5150 first (MDA and...

Selling a DEC RX02 Floppy Drive /w binders of various floppies

Here are two pictures of the drive: http://imgur.com/a/OCzlU I am selling it $400 (or best offer), half the price of what most of them are going for ($700-$900). The floppy drive powers on, but I don't have the means to test it currently. Due to the age of the hardware, selling as-is. It...

So I got my first PDP-11

Some of you may remember a while back I was interested in a PDP 11. Almost got a 11/34 but the guy scrapped it before I could get it. While browsing ebay, I so happened to find a 11/04 with 4h remaining. Sniped it at the end (sorry to the two other bidders who were fighting each other) and won...

    Question about PDP-11/70 backplane

Earlier I talked about my interest in the PDP11. I got a few cards for the CPU cabinet (still need a lot more) but I am having trouble figuring out which backplane I need. The installation manual mentions part 7011051 Rev D for the KB-11 C Processor. Is this the part I am looking for? Do they go...

    Ebay rant

    Got a IBM 5151, and soon a 5150 but have a question

I read today that plugging a 5151 into a CGA Card will fry the monitor. Is this true? If it is, I am lucky because I probably would have done so not knowing. I also have a Commodore PC10. Is the 5151 compatible with video out on that machine? When I bought the PC10, it was had a photo of it...
