Lo-tech IDE setup on Model III LDOS

I'm using the driver HDDVR5/CMD (not a DCT file) and the program HDFORM5/CMD from lo-tech.co.uk. This works almost fine for me except one little annoying thing. On every boot process after the 'Time ?' prompt (HD appears in upper right screen corner and computer freezes) I have to open (C8-CFh)...

Can an 80-track drive read 40-track floppies?

With NEWDOS/80 V2.0 double stepping can be specified by the PDRIVE command. The parameter TI has some optional flags which could be set. From the manual:

TRS-80 Model 3 - mice damage, CPU and ROMs removed

Attached are 3 photos from my Model III. Hope this helps. The transformer is ok if the core underneath the green label is still ok. It seems to me that there is only cosmetic damage on the T502. A smart project for connecting an external monitor is the composite video board from...

    Temperature Q4 transistor 2SB531 TRS-80 M1

You are right. I had mixed up Q4 and Q3. Therefore a temperature of 75°C is normal for the Q4. This transistor has the big heat sink for that reason. So it's fine with that.

    Temperature Q4 transistor 2SB531 TRS-80 M1

This high temperature isn't normal. In Adrian's video the reason (fault) for this is explained and a solution is provided.

    Model 4 Screen 'wobble'

In many cases the power supply is the culprit of such unpleasant appearances (on the Model III it's similar by the way). The reason for an unsteady screen picture could be cold solder joints on the output connector (and other places) of the power supply. These cold solder joints do often occur...

TRS-80 MODEL 4 Series .. CPM PLUS 3.0 now available

Thanks shirsch - As far as I know fritzeflink's question was based on a misconception about the PAL/GAL he read about for the desktop non gate array Model 4. His computer is a Model 4p. We two talked about it yesterday and came to the conclusion that a PAL/GAL change isn't necessary for the...

The cassette baud rate between the two versions is different: "Level I, 250-baud cassette input/output rate" "Level II, 500-baud cassette input/output rate" (Text excerpts from https://www.trs-80.com/wordpress/models/model-1/)

    DIRECTORY TO TEXT FILE?

It first depends on which Tandy computer and which DOS is used. I think not every DOS provides such a possibility. Usually some DOSes are providing a function named 'ROUTE'. Not all DOSes allow routing to a file but LDOS does. The following example is for LDOS 5.1.x. I haven't used this feature...
