    They came with the pigtail. I tested them and they seemed to have good voltage. The battery has enough charge to keep the thing powered for a few minutes, so it's not completely dead, but it is on its last legs.

    Try creating a FreeDOS image on the card with Rufus. It's what I used to install Windows onto my Libretto without resorting to a million floppy disks.

    Update on this: I just ended up replacing the screen. The screen had the same issue, but it was much less severe.

    I've done a lot of googling about this, and other than some MacBooks experiencing this, this seems like either an uncommon issue with LCD displays, or I am just unable to find a term for it.
