Hi,

Looking for the EGA Wonder diskette 1 and 2 mentioned in the card's manual page 11 (and the errata page). The ones on archive dot org and vogonsdrivers are for the 800 and 800+ cards.

Thanks!

Not sure what you're specifically looking for or what model you have. I am guessing if not the 800 models, you have the cost reduced 480.

I am looking for the utilities designed for an ATI EGA Wonder P/N 16892 Rev 1 1987 card. Mainly disk 1 from above. The ones I have found so far are for the 800 or 800+ cards.

At the link that liqmatrix provided, The EGAWoner800 (not 800+) drivers seem to have all of the files you've shown in your screenshot, and the readme.1 file on disk 1 seems to only mention egawonder, not egawonder 800, so maybe it will work with your card?

Yes, eventually self-extracting EGA8001.EXE file seems to include the wanted "ATI EGA Wonder disk # 1".

Thanks!

ATI EGA Wonder P/N 16892 Rev 1 1987 card

I have that same card! Didn't get far testing it as I couldn't find the drivers at the time (also I don't think I had my EternalCRT adapter at the time and I remember not getting a stable picture over composite on my Commodore 1084 monitor).

What computer and monitor (or converter) are you planning to use with the card? :)

Was planning on using the EGA Wonder as an all-in-one solution for Hercules, IBM MDA, CGA (RGB+Composite) and EGA cards on my 5170 (8MHz version). Monitor-wise, a 5151 for emulated EGA graphics and a NEC 3D Multisync for everything else (the composite signal converted to VGA with a StarTech VID2VGATV).

All OK so far but the composite output seems to be in monochrome -> https://forum.vcfed.org/index.php?t...onders-composite-output.1243230/#post-1319123 instead of the colors produced by an IBM CGA card's composite output.

MindWalker, what are your experiences with the EGA Wonder composite output regarding color?

I have my Commodore PC10-II where I was planning to use it (although I must admit using my Monotech VGA card is pretty convenient and I've been using it).

I'll have a thorough read on the other thread about the card later. I had a look and noticed that in your photo of the card you have an older ROM than my board (3.04 whereas my has 3.06). I'll attach the dump here for the sake of archival.

OK, thanks for the ROM!

PS. The PC 10-II w/monochrome Commodore monitor was our first IBM PC compatible.

Didn't notice this added question until now.

I tested my PC10 with the card on my CRT television. DIP'ped into Composite mode I get a BW picture.

I attempted to run Planet X3 and selected "CGA Composite 160x200 / 16-color" -> I still get a BW picture but with visibly chroma-dot pattern (like it was trying to do the NTSC fake colors but it was still put down to BW afterwards). If I selected "CGA 320x200 / 4-color" I got a clean BW picture without chroma-dots.

But yeah I would say the composite was just BW.

Yeah, sorry the edit. It got lost after clicking on post reply.

Thanks for the tests and info. Still hoping for some secret "mode" as mentioned in the other thread for disabling the final BW "process". Have not yet had time to investigate this more.

BTW, regarding the newer BIOS. Did you read it yourself? / Do you happen to know what type of chip should I obtain for programming on my MiniPro TL866?

Thanks!

I just realized that I actually have a Sony PVM that should support NTSC (I am leaning to believe that if the EGA Wonder did colour over composite at all, it would be NTSC). Unfortutantely I can't access the computer, monitor and the card all simultaneously just now as they are stored elsewhere.

The dump is from my card. The chip is a common 27C256 (from fe. Partco) or if your board has an EPROM, just dump the contents, remove the sticker and use an UV eraser to blank the chip and write the newer version to the chip.

Btw, another model EGA Wonder card for sale (but pick-up only).

Just confirming that the 3.06 BIOS here works with my card. One local shop sells 27C256s for 4 EUR a piece, so I preserved that original BIOS chip.
