Can anyone recommend a free to use and ad free email program for android?

My current email program bluemail is just too buggy and no longer works. I want to use my hotmail email on my android phone. Can someone please recommend a free to use and ad free email program?

How about Thunderbird. That's my main one and Gmail is my backup.

The forthcoming Thunderbird for Android is built on the K9mail source code with most changes being to the logo and other branding elements. How long does one want to wait for the actual release?
